My 4.5 month old Noah is doing the same thing. I BF right before bed with him swaddled, then after he's eaten and is asleep, I lay him down for the night, usually around 10:30. He would normally wake up around 8:30 am then. This worked for 2 and 1/2 months, but is not cutting it anymore. How can I help him to self sooth himself to sleep when he falls asleep every bedtime feeding? Why is he waking up in the night? It breaks my heart to just let him cry...

It is a process for him. He is going to have changes in his sleep habits until he is at least a year old or older. Baby is growing and his body is changing as well. He is also developing so he can start doing more on his own such as holding things, sitting up, crawling, and eventually walking. Those are just a few things that happen during the first year or so. Sleep patterns are also in those modes of changes. As the other post said, enjoy it because it won't happen again with this child.

I think being a mother is a blessing it goes by fast. For myself with my second son..I didn't worry about self soothing...if my child wakes up, I don't let him cry himself so he is upset and awake. I get up heat a bottle w/ formula, with rice cereal in it use special nipples so cereal gets thru take 5 min change diaper, feed him rub the tummy and cuddle him back to sleep. One thing s for sure, the sleeping patterns will continue to change they will get better with a few patches of issues off and on...I say enjoy every moment. You get to a point you hear the cry you go.into auto mode they woke up have your bottle ready in the fridge with cereal, formula milk whatever then heat it feed him, sooth kisses and back to bed...it will continue to change. Good luck this is but a moment, enjoy. Life is short
