How to get my almost 4 year old to sleep through the night?

Getting my son to sleep at night is not the problem, it is him staying asleep that's the real problem. He starts the night in his bed and then ends up at some point in the night he comes into bed with me. I never know until morning that he has done this because he does it without waking me up, any suggestions on how I can get my almost 4 year old to sleep through the night? He also wakes up while I am still up doing things that need to get done, when this happens I just put him back in bed and then sit next to him until he falls back asleep. Usually this only takes a few minutes.

It is fairly normal at this age. If it isn't bothering anyone and everyone is still getting their sleep, I personally wouldn't worry about it. Both my kids did this. With my son, it didn't bother me because I wasn't with a partner, so I just let it slide. With my daughter, I honestly couldn't sleep with 3 of us in the bed, so I threw a spare mattress on the floor next to my side of the bed and set it up with a special blanket for her, and that's where we agreed she would sneak to at night to be near me. It worked for us all. Rest assured, they DO grow out of it, but it is a fairly normal phase they go through.
