Hello! My eight month old has never been fond of bottles. I can not get him to drink out of sippy cups. I have tried pumping and the min always gets wasted. I have twitted several different bottles and sippy cups but all he does is bite them. Any tips others have tried?

My son chewed on them too. I learned to ignore the suggested ages on the sippy cup products because he didn't take to them at that age. Same when I tried to introduce the straw sippy cup at 9 months, he chewed on it and maybe at about 11 months he then understood the purpose. He basically used them as a toy at first until he learned how to drink from them. Just keep practicing with him, he will get it.

I would just start with water for now. Don't worry about trying to get him onto the sippy for the milk feedings (unless you are wanting that freedom). What I did with my kids is I would give them a sippy filled with water at meal times. Usually after they finished their food and while we ate ours. At first it was just a toy and they also would bite on them. I was ok with that as that was their part of learning how to work it. I got the playtex silicone sippy with the handles on the side (they were attached to the lid). Because they chewed on them they would leak after time. Again I was ok with that as it was only water to clean up and it seemed like once they broke through a little whole they figured out that something comes out of them. This then lead to them learning how to suck on them to get the water. As they got better at doing that and would start to use it more like a sippy I then got the Playtex sippies with the rubber spout. Same thing handle was attached to the lid. This helped with them chewing and not getting leaks. I then started to put milk in the sippy at times as they had become better at getting the liquid as they sucked. I still just did this at meal times. After awhile I then introduced the straw kind of sippy so they learned how to drink from a straw and then the hard top sippies.

Thank you so much! These tips are great! Very helpful. I thought I was doing something wrong because my daughter took to them with no problem. I will start with water and keep trying! Thanks again!
