How to handle 3yo bedtime tantrums?

My 3 yo daughter is generally well behaved but lately bed time has been a nightmare. We have a bed time routine and she goes to bed at the same time every night, but it's a huge battle. She has her comfort items in bed with her and a lamp with a very dim bulb, and is allowed to read a book that she picks. But she won't stay in bed and will turn on the light and scream at the door to get out. More recently she's been hitting me and screaming till she throws up. She has not fallen asleep before midnight in the last 3 days. I've tried eliminating naps but then it's worse because she is over tired. I just don't know what else to do.

Her bed time is already 9:00. If I let her decide when to go to bed it will be 11pm at the earliest. She doesn't have bad dreams, once she falls asleep she stays asleep all night long. She just doesn't like being told to go to bed, And she'll do anything she can to get out of it.

i dont have a 3 year old yet but my nephews are 2 and 3 the only time they get like that is when they have had a bad dream. but do not eliminate the naps just let her try and go to bed when she wants it might help a little do not let her know that you want her to go to bed or she will fight it my nephew wouldnt go to bed at his bed time for 2 weeks before i told my sister to let him go to bed when he wants now he goes to bed every night between 830-9 pm everynight without her even telling him that it is bed time..
