How to handle "you're so huge!" Comments

Hey mommies. I'm writing because I am currently 28 weeks pregnant (baby number 2) and for the past 3-4 weeks, all people can seem to say to me is "you're huge!" "Oh wow! Anyday now right?" "You must have twins in there! What? No? U sure ones not hiding behind the other?!"...these DAILY comments are wearing on my nerves. I've only gained 7 lbs the entire pregnancy (I got pregnant quickly after my first son and still had some baby weight from him- boy 2 is growing fine and I'm otherwise healthy).

These comments come from daycare workers, coworkers, and random strangers. I got pretty large with my first son as well and they did do an ultrasound looking for twins. Came to find out with both boys, I just have A LOT of extra fluid. High end of normal.

Any tips on how to handle these comments?? I'm close to just lecturing people on the common courtesy of how to treat someone while they're expecting!

I would say there are 5 in there and then if a stranger just quickly walk away :). For coworkers and daycare workers that you see daily you may just want to explain you just have a lot of extra fluid and maybe make a comment about how it is going to be a long pregnancy...this will stop the comments and give them a perspective on how it is on you.

I do daycare and though comments are different it is surprising what some people will ask. I have gotten the question "are they all yours?" ....which can be taken as a pos. or a neg. One time I had twins and another that was 6 wks older....so it looked like I had triplets....then with two other little ones walking along side the stroller....I got lots of looks and questions. Sometimes I would explain and then other times I would just say yep and then walk away. Sometimes it was funny to see their faces. :)

LOL Sarah . I like the "What I am not preg." Yep I am sure more comments will come your way. Have fun with them and add humor where you can. I have a 15 yr old and 12 yr old and a 2 yr old.... so besides the daycare comments I get the other side too. It is fun to see the looks. It is also fun talking with others that either have or are thinking about having a big age gap. You will enjoy the same with the small age gap. There are lots out there that can relate to your life and the comments you get. :)

Thanks Sarah!!! Ooo! I like the "there's 5 in here" comment. I fear at work it would just spawn more questions (unless I really gave it with edgy sarcasm). One of my friends said she used to tell people "what? I'm not pregnant!" That's also a good one.

With my first son, when people started asking all the questions, I promised I would never say anything but "hey what's up? How u doing?" To a 3rd trimester pregnant woman....so far this has served me well. Pregnant ladies are humans too- not just human incubators.

Thanks again! My sons will be 12 months apart roughly so I am sure more comments will be coming my way lol
