My 4 year old daughter started crying saying there were monsters in her head and she cant get them out. I took her to the doctor and the doctor said she was getting sinus headaches. She said she is afraid to sleep because of the monsters.I dont know what to do for her or if the doctor is even right with the headaches. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to help my daughter.

If she's afraid to sleep and saying it's monsters... not pain... I'd be inclined to think nightmares or something. A 4 year old knows when something hurts, so I wouldn't be so ready to jump on the headache theory (though doc COULD be right).

Can she describe the monsters? Tell you when they come or why? Perhaps some of the 'bad dream tricks' like a flashlight or 'monster spray' could help. If you suspect pain... maybe give her a dose of Tylenol at bedtime and tell her that it will keep the monsters away.

Is this just at bedtime though.. or is it during the day too? Depending on how badly it is impacting her, I would consider seeking a child psychologist to talk to her and see if they can get at the root of the monsters.

The monsters are usually during the day. she told the doctor they sound like drums. She bounces back and forth about the monsters and her head hurting. I was thinking about a child psychologist. Thanks for the dream trick maybe letting her have a small flashlight during the day may work.
