How to help a forceful letdown with too much milk?

My baby girl is 2 months old and 13 lbs!! She nurses at least 14 times a day(some of which is comfort nursing). She unlatches herself SEVERAL times I figured she was just being fussy. The real problem is that my milk flow is EXTREMELY forceful and my boobs are always rock hard! I tried pumping a little to make it easier for her to latch, but after I pump and latch her on another fresh supply of milk comes in AS SHES EATING!! This is nuts! Can I do anything about this??

** Needless to say my shirt is always wet, and my sheets are messy as hell.

Hi Lana. I too had this problem with my first. It seems the more milk u use, the more you make. Do you feed from 1 side or both at each feed? I found using both sides at a feed for a while helped reduce my flow. Also I used to sleep with a tea towel in my bra to help soak up any leakage.

Take Hollys advice & try to find a lactation nurse or midwife/health visitor who can advice you better as they had more experience & no the ins & outs more.

Good luck
