When my daughter had trouble adjusting to preschool my husband said, "if you pull her out she will never know she can be brave and do things that we tell her are safe but are a little scary. Please don't deny her the power of knowing she can do something different." She is such a strong, independent, brave woman now and I am glad I listened.

He may still be too young. It may be just a matter of adjusting. Or crying might just be his 'thing.'

If you don't want him crying every day there is nothing wrong with pulling him and trying again next year. My nephew started preschool at 3. He didn't even cry, but was just sad and followed the teacher around. They didn't even keep him in a week (which 'I' didn't agree with) before they pulled him and started him again at 4. He LOVED it at 4, never cried, wasn't even sad once.

My 4.5 year old went part time last year and will go full time this year. He stopped crying after going for about 6 weeks last year, but he still complains EVERY day that he doesn't want to go. It's rough and if not for the fact that he'll go to K in 2013 I'd probably keep him home this year.

He is normal and just getting settled. Don't make anything of this or you will make him think he does not like school. Talk about how well he does, display his art, sit in the classroom and marvel at how well he does, meet some other moms and arrange a play date at the park on the weekend so he gets to know the other kids. Be sure you are happy and upbeat when you drop him off and say "you are going to have so much fun... see you soon".
