how to make my 5 month old stop waking up several times a night just to have a little bit of bottle to go back to sleep?

I got into the bad habit of letting my 5 month old go to sleep with a bottle. Now he wakes up several times during the night wanting a bottle, but only drinks it for a minute. If I take it out of his mouth he wakes up. I was gonna start giving him water because the cost of wasted formula is killing me. But I've seen posts on here that say that is not a good idea. Any advice?

I'd probably just keep up with the bottle then. If you know he won't drink much you could just make a couple of ounces and use it throughout the night. Just stick it in the fridge when he falls back to sleep.

I don't really know. All of mine were breastfed and waking 1-5 times/night at that age depending on which kid we're talking about.

He wont take a paci & doesn't like to be held when he's tired. I just don't know what to do :(

If he's not really hungry you could try a pacifier or just cuddling him back to sleep.
