I folded up a thick comforter blanket to fit in the bottom of our son's pack n play. He also has his own pillow which keeps his upper body and head propped up. It's like a giant nest!! He doesn't sleep well anywhere else because he prefers his cozy pack n play :)

You can buy extra mattresses for pack-n-plays. I have 2 extras and then I used a regular crib mattress to hold them all together. Way more comfy for traveling :)

Ours stayed set up in the living room, we didn't take it down much, but it did have two thick blankets folded up underneath the baby mattress...the fitted sheet secured all three pieces together. I don't know how easy it will be to travel with the two extra blankets...but it worked well in our home.
