You shouldn't be cutting down on formula to give baby food. And if he isn't eating it, he may not be ready. Some babies aren't ready to eat solid foods at this age. My daughter rejected solid foods until she was about 8 months old. Solid food is only for practice at this age, and not for nutrition. Keep feeding him formula, do NOT cut back on it.

Formula has more calories ounce for ounce than baby food, so I really don't understand when doctors want to cut down on that.

Is he really not growing at all? I think I'd likely be seeking a second opinion and having them run tests if he has actually stopped growing completely.
