how to move baby into toddler bed?

my son will be a year on the 2nd of november. this morning i went in his room and he had climbed out of his crib. ... the crib is at it's lowest setting and there was nothing in the bed he could use to stand on (he does not sleep with a blanket, only 1 stuffed toy, but he had thrown that out already)...

So I'm thinking obviously I cant let him keep sleeping in there, but I don't think he will go to sleep if there is the option of just climbing out of bed, like with a toddler bed. how do you make that transition? for now I have him in a pack and play because it has higher sides, but I would like to have an actual bed for him, just need ideas about getting him to stay put, and how to teach him to do that.

what a little monkey! i fear mine will be doing the same soon he is only 11 months...anyway i did see a crib net at walmart goes over the crib the same as a playpen net.that may save you from having to transistion him just yet...but if your going with the toddler bed make sure it has the sides so he cannot fall out. when my friend moved her son into one he tried getting out of the bed alot the first week but by the 2nd week he was used to sleeping in the bed...good luck!

I took my daughters cot away and just put the mattress on the floor for a few weeks. I took everything fun and anything she could get into and play with away. She still got up but I just had to persist in putting her back to bed, to start off with she would get up 20 times, but after a few weeks she settled. Making a big deal of the whole experience is a good idea too.
