My son just turned 12 he's in the 7th grade. He will be starting heath class next semester which will teach sex ed. I have not had the talk with him, but I want to before he learns it in school. I do know he has a general idea on what it is. He has 15 yr old friend/neighbor and I want him to know the facts from me. (Stds, when a female can become pregnant, birth control) I guess the whole shaabang. MAybe not all at once? Maybe I should?
My sex talk when I was a per teen consisted of my parents showing me an extension cord. Telling me there is a female end And a male end. U put them together and there u have i sex lol we get a good laugh about it now but come on and extension cord lesson.
Please someone direct me in the right direction (a good book, website, ur own lesson) please. Thanks

He is 12 and in 7th grade. You should have had this talk with him long before now, because I hate to break it to you, he's already learned this from others in the school yard......

I used a book called "What is Happening to Me" to when I talked to my son (at 10 years old). It is age appropriate but at the same time informative, and also covers the emotional aspects of puberty, safe sex, etc.
