I was in a relationship with my sons father that was very abusive and I left after giving him one final chance to change, my son when he was 7mo. I moved interstate as thats where my family was. His father never bothered to see him but used to threaten to take him, so i went to court after I had a custody hearing he has never once bothered to go to his visitations (usually the judge would make me go to him seeing how I left but his lack of respect for the courts, the person that served him the judge said he had to come to us). Anyways, 2yrs on I met my partner and ended up pregnant up until my second was about 6mo he used to call him by his first name but started with dad we never stopped it as at that time he knew he had another father and my partner loves him as his own and he didnt want my son to feel as though he didnt accept him. My son is now 6, I now have a lg as well to my partner. Ive always told him the truth and he used to know but now I dont think he does, I jst never kept telling him etc we jst moved on with life and he continued to call my partner dad like his siblings. He asked to change his name when he started school this yr to his siblings so we did the aka. Im jst wondering if I should jst leave it for now and wait til he is older or if I should tell him again so he doesnt think I ever hid it or lied to him?? TIA

My daughter also calls another man dad... she's 5... I have a picture of her real dad (she's never met him) and I tell her every now and then that she does have another dad when she talks about her "daddy"... I think she gets it, but I'm not really sure... I don't want to lie about it though because the pain she will feel later on in life from the lie is not something I want her to go through.
