I was wondering what is best to use when a baby has a cold. i read everywhere to use a warm mist humidifier but im always reading that cold mist is better,what do you think? i got the warm one.but i am a worry wart and not sure i want to keep it plugged in all night.

Keli, here is my take on humidifiers. Use them to break up congestion when it is needed. The big thing is that they need to be disinfected and cleaned before and after each use because they can be very positive environments for bacterial growth. And the best advice for when to use the humidifier I would leave to your pediatrician.

For safety purposes, these humidifiers (the new ones) are very much up to a strict safety code as they are regularly used around children. I would not recommend one older than 2 years myself because I too am a worry wart.
