Hunting and fishing

I was raised in a non hunting family. I was so against it I even wrote a poem on the 4 th grade about how much o hayed hunters. Then I met my husband and in a conversation with my father I found out 2 things. 1 my father use to hunt before he met my mom and 2 my hubby comes from a long line of advid hunters and fishermen. Damn I thought when i found out. I put my ignorant opinion aside and learned about hunting and have been doing it ever sense. My kids enjoy being outdoors and learning how to fend for yourself. I changed my ignorant ways and decided to educate myself before assuming.

People do both in my extended family, my uncles hunt and my in-laws fish. Hubby and I are city folk, occasional fishers, but that's it. However, I think as long as you are using it to provide food and not for sheer sport, that there is no problem with it. In fact, it is more humane and environmentally friendly than factory farming, which is where most of us get our meat. I am opposed to slow-kill trapping, but proper hunting is fine. I used to support long-bow hunting, but recently I have heard that it is frequently a slow death. That rather changes my opinion.

Fishing no worries, my husband, father in law and brother in law are huge into fishing and since we live right on the ocean we do get to eat alot of fresh nice fish. I'm not so keen on hunting simply for the fact that I dont like killing animals with guns and I dont eat red meat but my brother hunts deer and elf back in Canada( I live in Australia) and they all love it. I think if your hunting or fishing to provide food and not just a trophy then thats alright but dont agree with trophy hunting such a waste
