Hi my 17 year old daughter is suffering mental health issues. My husband has been a great dad to her but won't accept she is unwell even though a phychiatrist has told him she is deeply distressed. He thinks she is attention seeking and a spoilt child. His negative comments upset her and trigger her anger. I have asked him to try and be more positive, but he has now moved out because he doesn't think he's doing anything wrong as he's done everything for our daughter and feels hurt he is being blamed for her trigger, we have been together 35 years and have four children. I really need advice as I love them both but don't know what to do.

It sounds like your husband is in denial. When parents find out that their child/children have medical, psychological, or other issues; it is hard and a shock to deal with an be able to understand the whole of it. How long ago did you find this out? Maybe he has not had enough time to process this and get it worked out in his mind. Maybe he is having trouble accepting it too. It may be that you all need counseling not just your daughter.
