Okay, so... Here's the deal. The girl name, Ella runs deep on my side of the family. Well, apparently, one grandma on my sister in laws family is named Ella, but NEVER went by it. She was called something else her entire life.
Well.. My sister in law found out if I ever have a girl I always said I wanted to use Ella. A month later she's pregnant, just found out its a girl. She keeps saying "Ella this" and "I can't wait until little Ella arrives" well, I've voiced that I would still use the name Ella... No matter what. She flew into a rage! I thought about using a variation of the name, but goodness. I've loved my family name since I was a girl!! Should I just bend??? Or is first cousins with the same name okay!??

Names aren't possessions so you can't "steal" it anyway. It's your choice what you want to call your children and no one else can dictate what name you use.

She is being a baby about this basically. Its not all about her either. SHe needs to get over it because her child might end up going to school with a lot of girls called Ella. The point is she is not your boss and can not dictate what you chose for names for your kids. I have a first cousin who has a son that has the same exact name as my son...(first name) and they are third cousins and they have met one time. They thought it was actually neat to have a cousin with the same name. I thought it was neat too...in fact my son is 10 months older than his cousin of same name. Just ignore her.

If YOU like it then name your daughter that. NOBODY can tell you that you cannot name your child what you want. Its your child not theirs. She will get over it!!
