I'm very concerned about my 6 year old daughter. She is soooo hyper and figity. She can never just sit still. When she's eating dinner we are always telling her to sit down and eat because she is up and down and just moving around. We were at an event the other night for an hour and a half and she did not stay still the whole time. It just doesn't seem normal to me. Are there other 6 year old girls out there like this? Does she have ADHD. As far as I know she's doing well in school. But she does act out a bit in school.

Yes she does sleep 11 hours a day. She has water at dinner time. She has swimming lessons once a week but has no interest in other sports.

I'd not jump to any label. Some kids just have more energy.

Lack of sleep can cause some kids to be hyper - she needs to be sleeping 11 or so hrs a night.

Diet plays a role too ... watch the sugar, the processed foods, dyes .....make sure she drinks water, so juice or soda -

Does she get a chance to run and jump and kick and scream? Is she in soccer, or track, or tumbling, or aikido ... some kids need more running time then others and that is okay. It doesn't mean they have ADHD, just a lot of enegry

Also, she is 6, so impluse control is very low - that will imporve with age, though easy correction now will help. She needs practice sitting still - learning to be calm and settled ... some kids need more practice then others
