I have always had long nails and I have somehow managed to raise my kids without injuring them....I'm not seeing the problem.

If she's never scratched your baby or it's only happened once or twice and is minor... let it go. If she's scratching your baby every day or it's bad.... find alternate child care arrangements. I keep my nails short and have, on occasion, still managed to scratch a kid or two... or three. It happens and I feel bad about it, but people are human and crap happens.

is she injuring your baby? if not it should be fine. what are you afraid of? the baby is likely to scratch her own self than your mother in law.

When you're not used to long nails, they can get in the way and scratch everything, so I can see your concern if you're not used to them. But your mother in law is used to long nails, I doubt she'll scratch the baby.
