I had my appointment today (30 weeks) and they told me the baby is turned/and his head is down already! Is this normal? When do most babys turn down? Does this mean I may have him early?

I can't remember when exactly Laura turned, but I can tell you I was told it was nothing to worry about, its just the baby getting into position to be born, I had laura at 34 weeks so it was some times prior to this...

it matters if this is your first and as long as he has not dropped in to your pelvis it going to be awhile he will swim all around the next few weeks

no don't it's complete normal I am 31 weeks pregnant too and is my second, the baby if he still have space would be flipping around many times, my first was like that too and so is my second, it's completly normal cause they are just practicing what they are going to do when the time comes, it does not mean he will come early.

It's normal...In the third stage the baby will turn down a number of times then will eventually stay that way for the deliver....congrats

my son turned really early into the pregnancy.. i had him 2 days before due date so I wouldn't worry about it.

I was 28 weeks when I got the 4D sonogram and that's when they told me Alivia was turned down. So she was probably turned down way before that. I wouldn't worry about it. Your baby is just getting ready to be born. Better for the baby to be down than up.

Your baby keeps moving in small movements even after 30 weeks. If your baby is down now, he or she may not be tomorrow or the next day. There isn't a problem with the baby being down, however. And if he or she stays that when then you're at no risk of a breech birth.

SOME BABY'S TURN EARLY SOME DON'T. WHEN I HAD MY FIRST CHILD SHE DID THE SAME THING AND SHE WAS ON TIME. IT'S JUST THAT THE BABY IS GETTING READY. HAVE YOU ASKED YOUR DR. AND IF YOU HAVE WHAT DID YOUR DR. SAY?

It depends on the pregnancy. Babies have to turn head down before they're too big to make the turn.

doesn't mean you will have him early by anymeans... just means he is head down already... all my boys were head down in every ultrasound i had including the one i'm currently pregnant with...

It's totally normal, don't worry! There is no set day/week/time for your baby to flip! Their just getting comfortable and when time comes, to be born! Good luck!!!

My daughter was head down my entire pregnancy, and she was 4 days early. She also dropped 3 weeks before being born, so even if your baby drops early, that's normal in a first preg.

yeah my lo was head down too, but nothing to worry about, i went into labour on my due date and had her just past midnight the next day.. from week 34 they usually tell you how far your baby's head is engaged, my midwifes told me i would go overdue as she wasn't engaging, but they were so surprised to be told i had been discharged from hospital and they had to come check on me..

[deleted account]

My babys were head down at 5&half mths ,it was so mad i felt the whole big swirl around and was able to tell my doc the position the next visit. and my first engaged at 37weeks and my second never did she ended up being sectioned, over something else.

It's possible but unlikely. My first son was turned down at 30 weeks and came only 3 days early according to my calculations. Don't sstress! Enjoy the next ten weeks and congrats!

And if I could add, even if the head is engaged early, it doesn't mean they are going to be born early. My first child had his head engaged at 34 weeks and he went full term.....that was fun (and incredibly uncomfortable).

It doesn't mean anything. My daughter flip-flopped up then down, up then down for weeks before she was born. She was only very little, so she had a lot more room to move than the average baby, and she couldn't make up her mind until the last minute!

[deleted account]

Mine were head down almost my whole pregnancy, and neither came early. If yours was engaged or dropped, that would be more of a getting-ready-to-go-into-labor sign in my book.

Did want to point out that Laura did not come early due to being turned. She was born by emergency c-section.

[deleted account]

My daughter was head down from 19 wks. She came on her due date, but I don't think that had anything to do with it. My midwife says that a baby finds the most comfy position and head down is most comfy!

My babies were both head down most of my pregnancies and there was no problems. I wouldn't worry about it.

My son was turned and his head was down at 29 weeks. The ultrasound tech told me that it doesn't always mean they are coming soon. He and his twin brother were born 13 days later.
