I have been reading quite a few stories on some of the websites from the news concerning children found dead in cars or even still in the cars alive in the heat of summer and no parents about. Or the parents forgot the kid and then remember going to the car to find their little one is gone. Who the heck forgets that their child is in a car? The parents or adults of past cases have been reviewed with updates as to what happened to them and their court appearances. Most get off with a slap on the wrist with some sort of probation and parenting classes or other kinds of things that the judge is deeming necessary. If the kids survived the ordeal and were taken into custody for their safety, then they are given back to the parents. I do not understand how someone can forget they have a kid of any age in the car. Those that are glued to the cell phones make sure they have that in hand; even going to the point of returning to the car to get it. But not the kids. The last story I read was about a Kansas man who had a baby and a five year old with him. He got the older child out of the car and in the house but never got the baby out. A couple of hours later and a tv show and a commercial reminded him about the fact he had left the child in the car. Unfortunate for the baby, he died. How does someone forget? I can not and do not get it.
