I am afraid to leave my baby!

Does anyone else have major issues with being separated from your baby, even for a short time? I gave birth to my baby girl two months ago and I cannot even enjoy a shopping trip or dinner out without becoming extremely anxious. I never felt this way with my son (he is now seven). I don't trust anyone to take care of her, not even her grandparents, who are great. I feel like a weirdo. I went to a movie last week without her and I couldn't even enjoy myself. I practically ran out of the theater after the final credits. I am due to return to work in a couple of weeks and I honestly don't know how I am going to do it. It would be great to hear from someone who is in the same boat I am in!

Thanks, Rachel. I went to the mall alone tonight and ended up buying a bunch of baby clothes for her, rather than new clothes for myself. Hopefully this phase will end before she gets old enough to get super-annoyed with me! I don't think my mom got past it yet and I'm almost 32 :)

It's normal. She's still very young. I think you should try getting out without her more, even if you don't like it. That way you can see that she'll be okay while you're gone.

If it doesn't get any easier, you could try talking to your daughter. Maybe some anxiety meds would help.
