I am at 18 weeks right now, and haven't had any ultrasounds yet. Is this normal??? Should I have had one by now??

In my first pregnancy I wouldn't have had an u/s til 18-20 weeks, but I was having one to check on a spot in my breast at 10 weeks and since I had some spotting at 9 weeks the NP decided to just have them take a look. Good thing cuz that's how we found out I was having twins! I ended up w/ 4 u/s w/ them.

I had one ultrasound at 9 weeks (to determine if I was pregnant), 12 weeks, 16 weeks (boy or girl), 29 weeks, 31 weeks, 33 weeks, 37 weeks, then the day she was born I had one. No complications during pregnancy. (the reason for the large gap between 16 and 29 weeks was because I didn't have a doctor all of a sudden).

You should be going in for monthly checks right now, so chances are they will scheduale your ultrasound for your next visit! How exciting!

Thank you all for the answers. I haven't had any yet, and with this being my first I was just curious if I should have had one by now. I do go this week for my check up so hopefully they will schedule one soon.

I had 5 ultra sounds with my first, and 5 with my second. My son was growing wicked fast, and I had some minor complications, and my daughter would not hold still for her measurements so they kept on bringing me in. This is not the norm though. usually it is just 2 per normal pregnancy.

I agree with the others, I am thinking after the first trimester for the first ultrasound, and then at about 20 weeks to determine sex, measurements, and to check proper growth. Call your ob/gyn now to schedule your appointment now!

Yup, both are right. Usually around 7 weeks for the first to determine pregnancy and conception date, then around 20-24 weeks to determine sex, and take all measurements to ensure proper growth.

Where I am, we have three ultrasounds. The first is to date the pregnancy and to detect a heartbeat. That is at around 8-10 weeks. The second is to test for down syndrome. The third is for anatomy which is at around 20 weeks.

It's totally normal to only have one ultrasound around 20 weeks. Some places do an US at 9ish weeks to determine fetal age, but many do not.
