I am battling to get my nearly 3 year old son to brush his teeth. He wants to do it himself but is not yet capable of doing it properly. If I try to help he screams... Any tips and advice?

How do you know your 3 year old isn't capable if you don't let him try?

Why don't you try negotiating with him that he can do it at night on his own, if he will allow you to help him in the morning? That could be a good compromise.

My daughter is also 3 and she brushes her teeth better than my 11 year old, your son needs to be doing it himself in order to learn how to do it properly and get better. I tell my daughter that she has to let me check and see if she got them all at which point I give them a little brush as well. This works for us, but then I have to still check with my son as well as he does not brush well at all.

If your son wants to do it him self you should let him and encourage him . I wouldn't worry that much course they're his baby's teeth so just encourage him doing it morning and night.

I tell my 3 year old that mummy has to have a turn before him to make sure his teeth are all sparkly then when I'm done he gets his turn. Make it light and fun, play along with him, turn it into a game.
Good luck :-)
