I am expecting my first child in July!

Hello to you wonderful people! I just wanted to say hi and that I am very new to the site and learning how to navigate. I found out I was expecting and my husband is in the military. My scenario is so complicated only because I'll be going overseas and living on a military base, and having my first child away from my family. I've learned a lot on how to cope and handle the frustrations from both family ends and husbands end when I took the vow to follow my husband wherever his career takes him. Anyone else ever been in a situation having a child away from family for the first time? I've learned many strategies on communicating with parents and family members to make sure I am happy and they are happy. Wow. My life has changed quickly. But this is what makes the ride fun and I look forward to what the challenges bring!

I live in a military town and, although I'm not military, I know people that are. It's a difficult road being a parent, and more-so if you are doing it away from the support system of your family. You can do it. Be strong. Enjoy the new location that you will be in. Find fun things to do there so you're not stuck in base housing 24/7. Befriend other moms and/or build a new support system in the new place.
