My twins are 5 going on 6 in November and we are going through a really trying stage they are not listening at all, constantly fighting with each other, running off from us, and just doing everything and anything to push every button we have. I am at my end of the rope and have no idea what to do any more when we try time outs or any form of discipline they laugh in our faces and I just do not know what to do.

Start removing privileges. I'm pretty sure no TV for a week, or losing whatever computer game time they might get will hit them hard enough for them to think about it a bit more. You just have to find their currency. There comes a time where time out alone is not enough.

If you are just "trying" discipline then it won’t work. They know it means nothing. You have to "DO" discipline. You have to FOLLOW THROUGH AND BE CONSISTENT. Fighting with each other is a sibling thing. You can't stop that, but that does not mean they should get away with hitting, etc. Set rules and enforce them ALL THE TIME!

Hi! I agree with the other people who commented that you have to be consistent. Consistency really is key to discipline being effective. Has anything changed recently that might be bothering the boys? Sometimes changes can cause kids to act out more. Diet changes? You might also consider talking to your children’s pediatrician. Praying for you!
