he is obsessed with politics. everything anyone says is an open forum for him to lecture about his thoughts.

I totally appreciate what my son feels. The cost of a higher education is off the chart. I have second mortgaged my house to help him accomplish his dreams. His father has not. I totally support my son. I just don't think he's dedicated to this. He lives with me. I am not a fan of this. He has aspberger's. I love my son so much but there is a time where he has to ask his dad to support this.

Does he have a job and support himself? If so, then he is is passionate about politics. People can choose to engage or not.

Sounds to me like you have differing views and you don't want to hear it. Just tell him that.

Agreed. Also. Even if you're not in the US, even in a regular election, it has impacts all around the globe... This cycle... Is a shit show with major, major implications to even those who dont get a vote as non citizens and non residents.
So your son has a passion for something you dont appreciate...

It seems that, if his only 'issue' is being focused on politics, then he's functioning.

If you're in the US, you know we are in an election year, and politics NEED to be followed for one to make an intelligent decision.

If you don't like the discussion, end it. Tell him you don't wish to speak on that topic, and that the subject is now closed. He's an adult, he can redirect.
