This doesn't sound shocking to me at all. Please excuse my converting this to pounds, but essentially, you're right on target...

It's recommended that a woman gain 25lbs to 35lbs (I guess that's about 11kgs to 16kgs) if she starts her pregnancy at an average weight . The breakdown is 2 to 4 pounds during first trimester, and about a pound a week for the rest of the pregnancy.

If you gained 4lbs for first trimester and one pound per week for the first six weeks of second trimester that's 10lbs. 5kg is more like 11lbs, but that's very close. Your weight fluctuates so much with fluid retention it's hard to get a truly accurate reading.

If you're eating right and maintaining a good level of physical activity your body will gain what it needs. Understand that the baby can easily grow to be 8 or 10 pounds. Your blood volume needs to increase by 50%. When you deliver your placenta can weigh as much as 2lbs and you should have about 2lbs of amniotic fluid. Your uterus and breasts need to grow and that will add several more pounds.
