I don't know what to do!!

A little over two years ago my son, who was 4 at the time, had said his father had done some things to him sexually. After long investigations, they found no other credible evidence and only convicted him of child endangerment. They said my son's story was too inconsistent.
Over the past year or so my son has recanted his story. This time however, he is consistent with what he says. He has told me that a little boy at school told him to say those things about his father so that the other little boy wouldn't get in trouble. He has told me his father has never done any of those things to him. I don't know what to believe now. Do I believe his first story or do I believe what he is telling me now? Please help.

Perhaps the other little boy was (and still is) being molested, and his only way of communicating that was to tell his friend?

I don't understand how your son lying about his own father would keep the other little boy from getting in trouble. Maybe the other boy was being abused, and the boy wanted your son to say those things about the boy's father, not your son's own father, and your son misunderstood? Don't know. Seems like a very strange situation. You son would have had to get the story from somewhere, if it wasn't really happening to him. But you wouldn't want to go around accusing other parents of abuse if you're not sure where the story came from. It's a difficult situation to be in.
