I am married to and have 2 year old son. We moved here to Colorado back in March because we thought it would be a great place to start over. Which in most cases it has been great! We moved into what we thought was a great apartment. We didnt know for one that it was infested with roaches. And for two that the staff were such horrible people. I recently quit my job because I really and truely was being treated horribley. Everyone that worked there has been treated bad. My husband was working 2 jobs but he decided to quit his part time job when I quit my full time one. So our problem now is that we are being evicted and I dont know what to do. We dont have anyone that will help us and we have been waiting for help from the state for 2 weeks for rental assistance. We have to pay $580 by the 20th or we are gone. Sadly that is my husbands full check! That still leaves us with all the other bills we have. I cant seem to find any place that will help and Im really starting to panic. I feel like I should of just stuck with my job but I dont want to work for a company who treats their employees the way they do. I was seriously morally disgusted and apalled at the way we were all treated. Im just seriously lost right now and I am worrying so much about my son. :'( Does anyone know something or a place that helps?! We cant get evicted because we will be homeless...

An eviction notice doesn't mean anything. You have to go to court. They MUST do due diligence in following the eviction process as set by your county. Landlords can be bullies, as you can see. True evictions are delivered by county constables and the court. But none of that happens without you going before a judge. You have renter rights! Educate yourself on your county's eviction laws and rights.

I think a big part on why they want us out is because we called the Denver Housing Authority on them and they know that their property isnt going to pass the inspection. Since we have moved in we have made our rent in 2 payments and they nevr got mad about it till now. I called them 2 days before they posted the eviction notice and said that I was tired of the roachs because they are everywhere and I called DHA and the women I talked to got really mad then BAM theres a eviction notice.

Have you gone to court yet? Eviction court and judge ruling against you to evict you is the only way any landlord can evict you and it can take 60 to 120 days for the entire process. If you did lose in eviction court then a constable would post a 24 hr notice to vacate on your door. Sounds to me like your landlord is trying scare tactic with a deadline of the 20th. To be legally evicted, you must go to court!! You need to look into your rights as a renter...you have many. Trust me, it took us three months to evict s renter for nonpayment of rent! Look into your rights, call the county clerks office. County court systems have online sites that state the eviction process..

Have a FAST back up plan. Can y'all move to another city in Colorado IF you get evicted? Is there any family in the US that you can live with temporarily until you get back on your feet? Can you go to a church for help with this month's rent? Even if you aren't a member? There should be other non profit agencies that can assist with emergency rent assistance, you will have to look online if you haven't done so already. ONCE you get rent in order, try to get another job, even if it's one you HATE. At least you will be getting money to prevent more of this situation (waiting tables, especially in Colorado, is a great way to make fast money).
