I got a 12 week ultrasound this week & the Dr. told me that the neck was thicker than she likes to see. So at 22 weeks we will get another Ultrasound to make sure the baby's heart is okay. Has this happend to anyone else & turned out to be just fine?

The measurement on the neck at 12 weeks in tandem with a blood test allows the doctor to statistically calculate the risk of Downs Syndrome. Did you get the neofocal scan done or was it just a regular scan?
With my first child I had a 1/7000 chance of Downs. With my second a 1/300 chance and with my third a 1/5000 chance.
With my second child I opted for an amniocentesis at 16 weeks. This confirmed through DNA analysis that my baby did not have Downs. Note though that there is a risk with this procedure also.
Of course the point is mute if you decide to raise the child regardless of his or her genetically based disabilities.
