I had my first baby two weeks ago. I had a normal vaginal birth with no tearing. How long do I have to wait before having sex again?

Never before 2-3 weeks, but after that as soon as you feel ready it will be fine. This is what my doctor told me.

My baby is 3 months old and we were told that it is no longer 6 weeks. It's as soon as you feel ready but not recommended before 2 weeks due to some sort of embolism but that is incredibly rare

My sister, nephew and niece are all OBGYN's. So please trust me....no intercourse before 6 weeks. You have to completely heal to avoid the risk of infection!

I used to work in a nursing home. You learn a lot from nurses, more than you want. It takes 6 to 8 weeks for your body to heal from the "trama" of childbirth. However, it takes an entire year for your body to fully heal. It is medically recommended to not have sex til 6 or 8 weeks, however, to not get prego again for a year. It is something about the hormones.

@Brianna. Yes it is possible in babies. But it might just be restricted sleep apnia. 2 of my 3 kids had/have it. It was fixed with my daughter having her tonsils out at 4 and my son is to have his out too hopfully soon. Talk to Baby's doctor about it to be safe.

Yep 6 wks still here.....don't know any doctors that are recommending anything different. Need to heal. That is why they say no tampons, etc. before your 6 wk check-up. You are also not on any kind of birth control before that 6 wk check-up, so there is a HIGH risk of getting pregnant right away if you have unprotected sex.

I would say if you have questions it is always best to talk to your doctor instead of putting yourself at risk of damaging something and having lasting effects.

6 weeks, chance of infection is high. Your vagina has been through A LOT and needs time to heal.
