You can't use CIO on a newborn, it is very dangerous. It's perfectly normal for a baby to cry like that especially newborns. You will be sleep deprived, but it won't last long. Are you breast feeding? If not you need to have your husband help you. I don't care if he works the next day. So do you, taking care of the baby. You BOTH need to be functional.

Sleep when the baby does. Forget about the housework, trust me on this. The less sleep you get the less you are going to be able to handle the stress of a new baby.

Her tummy is about the size of a cherry so NEEDS to be fed all the time. Also, babies don't know how to regulate their emotions (their brains aren't that developed yet) so NEED to be held to sort out their feelings. If your baby was 17 MONTHS old then this type of behaviour would seem a little odd. But your baby is behaving perfectly normal for her age. Patience, patience, patience and unconditional love is what your baby needs from you :)

Do not leave that poor baby to cry! She is a 100% perfectly normal newborn. Don't punish her for it. Feed her and hold her as much as she wants/needs. The fact that you get a 4 hour stretch of sleep out of her is actually REALLY good.

I'm sorry but you have a newborn......that's what they do. They are helpless and need you so of course they are going to wake after 5 hours to eat! Which is actually too long for them to be going without eating......I take it this is your first? You are going to need a lot of patience and love.
