I have a newborn, full-time breastfeeding & got my period. Has this happened to anyone else?

Try a heat pad. I suffer terrible period pain, and have done for 30 years. I don't find painkillers very effective (at least not in doses that are ok if I'm supervising children), but a heat pad REALLY does help take the edge off.

thanks girls. it really does suck. i also have endo & pcos (polycystic ovary) so it's the pain that i'm not dealing with. i can't take any painkillers because i'm breastfeeding. BC scares me because of the pcos - i doesn't work for me. I don't know if i'm going to be able to continue fulltime feeding if i get another period. any advise?

I breastfeed and pump full time. I ended up getting my period 7 months after she was born. Thought it was a fluke but I got again the following month too. Guess it's back to a regular thing now even though I pump and nurse and work full time.

That sucks! I've known some moms who got it back around 2-3 months with and without breastfeeding and then others who didn't get it back until after they stopped breastfeeding or even longer after that! Everyone is different. I got mine back when my daughter was about 11 months when I started weaning. I got it a few days after I cut out my one pumping session during the day. I was aggravated and thought I'd have more time since I hadn't stopped, lol. I wasn't able to breastfed because she wouldn't latch on, so I pumped and bottle fed and had tons frozen, so I was weening myself, lol. I wasn't on birth control or anything either, so that didn't affect when I got it back. Took me so long to get pregnant the first time, don't want BC to affect me trying to get pregnant the next time around!

Yes, I got mine when my son was about 2 months and when my daughter was about 3 months. Around the time I started using BC again. I'm not sure if that's a factor or not.
With my first I was on the pill (estrogen free).
The second time was shortly after I got my Mirena IUD.
