my daughter is almost 2 and she barely eats anything. She will have her good days but for the most part she eats very little. She will eat yogurt, fruits and some veggies also cheese. She eats very little meat and sometimes she will eat beans. I worried she is not getting enough protien in her diet. For her last doctors appointment she only gained one pound in 6 months. Any ideas what I can do? Or recipes that could incorperate what she does like to eat?

Thanks for the advice! The doctor was a little worried cuz she was underweight for her height. She is starting to do a little better now. I will definetly try the pediasure because she will pretty much drink anything...doesnt really like water but will drink it though.

My now 9 year old 53lb son was and is exactly like that. Only he refuses to eat any vegetables and will just now eat a hot dog as long as it's loaded with ketchup. Can't even get him to eat McDonalds, it's a bun with cheese on it (u can imagine the looks we get). He eats a peanut butter sandwich every day for lunch cause he won't eat the lunch served at school. I wish I had made him try different foods instead of catering to him. He will actually cry if u make him try something new. I would give her vitamins and have her drink pediasure. My son likes the chocolate flavor, there is also vanilla and strawberry. They are expensive, but at least she'll be getting some extra protein.

Your babies growth slows down now. My son is the same way ask the doctor if her growth is ok and if your worried you might want to ask the doctor about a supplemt vitamin shake for kid like pediasure. Also sneak in in the meat puree it and make a veggie soup or ham and cheese grills.Good luck.

I do feel you on this my son wont eat Veggies

all he wants is chicken I worry he dosent get the right vitamins

I have him on a multi vitamin.

she weighs 23lbs. She will eat pasta occasionally she use to eat it all of the time. It use to be a gaurentee meal that she will eat now there is no garuntee meal. I have been told if she wont eat dont force it but give her a glass of milk to help with protien and other needs. I dont know what to do some meals she will eat others she wont and it wont be the same response the next time. If I take her plate away she wont ask for anything until the next morning and then she will eat her breakfast and then some lunch no dinner. Then the next couple of days it will rotate which meal she will eat its never the same.

i agree wiv u dont force her 2 eat, if she likes yoghurts give her 2 instead of one, u say she like fruit which is good, my daughter doesnt eat much i make sure she always has a big breakfast eg yoghurt, fruit and toast. then i few hours later i give her sum more fruit, she doesnt eat lunch only a peace of bread, then i giv her another snack in the afternoon eg breadstick/fruit, then she will hav quite a big dinner and a yoghurt after.

but u should try the vitiams jus 2 giv her a little boost and make sure shes getting wot she needs,

also i only give my daughter water 2 drink as juice apparently fills them up. i find my daughter will try new foods if im eating it wiv her.

good luck.

The things your feeding your daughter are healthy and if youre worried about her not getting enough protien try, peanut butter with an apple, soy protien, certain types of nuts. I myself am not a big meat eater I like chicken on occasion but ive never really cared for it. If her weight is around the right area for her height and age I wouldnt worry too much. my little brother was like that when he was that age and my mom was told to just get get him to eat which he has gotten into the habit of overwating and he is now 12 and overweight if she likes healthy things let her eat as much of them as she wants and try different sources of the nutrients your worried shes not getting.i'm sure it will be a pain to find them but im sure she will like something with all the options.

as long as the doctor isn't concerned about her being underweight then she should be alright.. if shes hungry then she'll eat.

I am having the same problem with my daughter, too. She will be 2 in April, and she likes the same things as your daughter. The only way I can get her to eat chicken is if it's breaded! I am not happy about that, but she doesn't eat much else for fried or unhealthy foods. Has she tried chili (a tame chili)? My daughter will eat a few kidney beans and sometimes some of the meat. I'll be very interested to see what other advice/responses you get!

Kids eat what they need. But at age 2, you shouldn't be catering to what she will eat. It sounds mean, but in my house, you eat what is cooked for that meal or you go hungry until the next meal. Whatever isn't eaten (if they haven't touched their meal), is put away til the next meal or when they say they are hungry. By the end of the day, they eat and eat it all, and no problems for at least a couple weeks! I refuse to let my kids become picky eaters, but I also refuse to force them to eat or cater to their wants.
