I have no patience

Why does it take kids so long to do anything. Like brushing their teeth, getting dressed. Oh God the homework. I try to leave when he is doing his homework but that just makes it take longer. What makes it worse is that most of the time I don't understand the assignments. I can't stand to just sit there and watching fiddle fart around. It's worse than listening to him read . . . OUT LOUD. What to do? What to do?...... Thanks for listening.

Does he get a lot of attention in the form of, 'hurry up' 'come on'?
If attention is what he wants, he will go slow.
Brush your teeth and get ready for bed by 8 and we will ....
Then don't nag. He will or he won't.
Same w/hw. Give him whatever time is needed (an hour?) and say, "when you are done we will..."
What is his motivation to hurry? Hurry so he can be told to do something else?
Have him read to you while you are driving.

I thought I wrote this post, LOL. I hear ya. I get impatient, too and I know I need to work on it. I have to remind myself they are still growing up and eventually they will get it, with a little help from me! Hang in there! :)

I know how you feel Shannin! Kids take a lot of patience. Depending on the day i'm having, I don't have much at times either.

Patience? We're supposed to have patience? Oops....

Nah, I try, but some days are just crazy from start to finish.

Yea you're right JuLeah, it is pretty much hurry up and then it's get ready to do another chore so I can see where he would have NO motivation. Maybe I should change that. Thanks
