40 is the new 30! You're still very young. Take some classes. Join a Meet up group (meetup.com), join a local gym, try yoga classes, music classes, jazzercise, There are a million things to do and at 40 you're still young enough to do it.

Do you like to do things crafty? Then I would suggest taking a class such as quilting, scrapbooking, knitting, etc. Or you could do something artsy like take up a class and learn to paint, photography, etc. OR, you could join a community service group or create your own to help those in need, or volunteer at the hospital, homeless shelter, etc. Have fun and good luck!

Tekoa are there things tour interested in that you never had the time to do before? If I had time I would take a cooking class, possibly a cake decorating class, I would probably start taking riding lessons again. You could also take a language class with the ultimate goal being to go visit that country. Look into a local college they usually offer non credited courses for relatively cheap. You could also join a book club if you like reading, check your local library.

Hey Louise, I have a full-time job. I will take your advise and look into taking some classes. It's just a little challenging to think about yourself when your life has been devoted to your children. I just to need to learn to change my state of mind.

Why not study at home on line and train to do something you are interested in. I have a 21 year old and 18 year old and 3 year old and I studied to do book keeping and accountancy at home although I am a qualified preschool teacher and speech therapist for the under 5's.

I now work part time from home as a book keeper whilst my daughter is at playgroup for a couple of hours and in the evenings when she is in bed. Not only does it keep me occupied it also brings in some spare cash.

Look at your local college to see what takes your fancy for a hobby or look online for online courses for the more serious stuff.
