I'm not a mom I'm a dad I have a girlfriend who has 2 kids I raise them like there my own my girlfriend and I have a baby boy on the way. My girlfriends mom live with us and I pay all the bills and she babysits on top of that she wants me to pay her to babysit. Do you think it fair we should have to pay her to babysit her grand children when she lives with us for free and pays for nothing? On top of everything I'm 24 and my girlfriend is 22 we both don't make much money but we make it work

I feel the same way and sometimes when I mention that to my girlfriend she gets mad at me and tells me to drop it it hard for her and I to talk about it cause it's her mom I guess I just feel as if she's using me like before I even came into the picture she was on her own and since I've came she came free loading don't know what to do

Under normal circumstances, I would say it is fair to have to pay grandparents to look after children if they ask to be paid - grandparents need money too, and some give up jobs to be able to take care of their grandkids.

However, on the other hand, she should also be contributing to your household bills in some way (such as board, food, her share of the utilities) just as any adult should be in your home.

So, on that basis, you could either say no, or you could offer to pay her to babysit, and then charge her board and bills for living with you (in which case the payments would cancel out anyway).
