Well if it's any consolation, my son was finally potty trained on his 3rd birthday. We didn't want to stress about it, or stress him about it. His little sister however simply potty trained herself. All kids are different. But I did go a little batty with my son. So, here are some things that seemed to work for us.
-I took him to the store and we bought a package of "super cool" big boy underwear, which distressed him very much when ruined.
- We bought him a very desirable toy (yes, bribing) and mounted it on the wall, which he would receive when successfully quite needing to wear a diaper. We talked about it a lot.
- And in the end, just before his 3rd birthday, my husband and I chose a weekend together to stay in the house. We were patient, assertive and clear to him that this would be the weekend that he would stop wearing diapers/pull-ups. We removed all the diapers and simply didn't give him a choice. He had to use the toilet or make a mess on the floor, which he didn't. It worked like a charm.
After that weekend, he has never wet himself or the bed again.

Good luck!

Wow that sounds like an amazing weekend for all of you! Yeah my daughter doesn't seem interested in the potty so much not unless it is her idea to sit on it. I think I'm going to try keeping her in for a few days and just get rid of the diapers all together several people have told me that is how the potty trained their children so it my be a success. Thanks so much for the advice :)
