My cat has been an awesome cat. Well, sopposedly. Today, after lunch, my husband, my kids and I were driving home from Joe's Crab Shack and we came home to see the 6 thousand dollar leather couch IN PIECES AND WITH HOLES IN IT! I knew for sure it was the cat. I ran upstairs to look at our leather bed, and it had holes in the side of it TOO!!!!! I was furious. I knew it was the cat. My kids ran upstairs and were in their rooms, scared. My husband was furious and raging because we didn't even PAY for the couches and bed yet. So he called "Chloe.. come here bit*h..." I was like, what are you gonna do? He said he was gonna strangle her. I was like O.O. I love my cat dearly and I would hate to leave her and our family. But after all, she did ruin my couch. What in all honesty should I do?!

WTF?!? You would kill your cat because she was doing something that is completely natural instinctively to her? Get a ton of scratching posts, and rub the shit out of them with cat nip.

how old is the cat? are there any other animals in the house that could do it? Does she have anywhere else to scratch? If you guys are angry with the cat eitehr figure out a way to deal with it or find her another home. Would you hurt your kids just because they drew all over the couch? my guess would be no. So don't do it to your cat. Your cat was doing what comes naturally to her.

do u have a scratching post or something she can use? also i would no longer let her free in the house when ur not home. she should be confined to a room or kennel when ur not home

Obviously this is new behavior for her or else you wouldn't of bought leather couches and a bed. Maybe you should rule out that anything is wrong with her before your husband strangles her. I mean my dog is 15 years old and is having accidents around the house because she can't hold it all day and night so I'm not going to get new hardwood floors put in right now. I agree with Little Miss at the very least you should take her to a no kill shelter, how are you going to explain to your kids that your husband killed the cat by strangling it? And your kids will be scared for their own lives if he's going to kill the cat for scratching up the furniture.

That is animal abuse. I would rather hear that you brought her to a no kill shelter, and don't get another animal until you are ALL ready as a family to deal with these kinds of situations without harming the pet.

Animals misbahve when they are left home alone. when your going out you can put the cat in another room with its bed food toys and water like a laundry room?
