Hi, my son is almost one and I would like to introduce honey but I'm unsure if there is anything special I need to do first. Like obviously a little at a time but does the first few times need to be cooked? Or is there a good way to start. Thanks!!

I'm only introducing it so I know there won't be a problem. We don't even own any and aren't a sweets family but I need to make sure he's fine rather then worry about someone doing it rather and not watching him like I would. I only sweeten his food with fruit but thanks

Of course another multiple post. No honey until 1 year. period. Why? Unless it is raw, he it poses no benefit. Even then...Maybe?

I am also going to add... there really is no 'good' reason to introduce honey to a baby... it's pretty much like handing them a spoonful of sugar (and would you do that to a one year old?). Now... all of my kids DID have the occasional small amount of honey sometime after a year, but even now as teenagers and a 2nd grader... we might use one small bottle of honey in 6-12 months... it's just not a necessary item.

Honey has a lot in Vietnam. if you travel in Vietnam, you should buy a little of use. It is quality, no preservatives

Hi Sara,

I didn't see this until after I posted my first message. You can add in oatmeal or on toast. I tried to introduce it to my son and he absolutely hated it. LOL

Personally I'd probably wait a couple more months since honey can kill babies. Other than that... no, nothing special.

I've made my own decitions on how to introduce food and when. Many countries don't fallow the "guidelines" that we are told to in US, and we have much higher allergie rates as well as health problems and I feel that is why. My son has eatin fish and everything else besides honey since 6 months and is doing amazing!! he's almost 1 and I feel the sooner the better with most things and have waited on honey. He'll be 1 next week, I just need to know if there is something special I need to do. That's all...
