I'm wondering if anyone has had endometriosis and had a laparoscopy as a treatment for it.

I was having these sharp pains in my belly and I ended up going ot hte Er and they put me in the hospital. They couldn't figure out where the pain was coming from after they did a ultra on day # 4 in the hospital. THe doc decdied it was important to go in and do laparoscopy and they found that I had endrometriosis extremely bad that was causing all the pain. after a few more days in hte hospital I went home!, went back to the doctor for my 7 day follow up and was still in pain! he decided to schedule me for a partial hysterectomy, and in less then 1 week I was having my hystterectomy, and was in hte hospital for over another week! I was in tons of pain and said I would never go through surgery again, but after getting up and walking the halls at hte hospital after 8 days in the hospital they finally let me go home and recover at home. I have little pains now and then but before i had the surgery I was on 3 different pain medicines to keep the pian under control.

I have endometriosis. There really isn't anything they can do for it. I had a laperoscapy back in 2000. It was a good thing they did it cuz while they were in there they found a cist. Not sure on spelling. The pain doesn't always coinside with how bad the endometriosis is. Mine was really bad for a while there. It hurt to bad I would lay in bed and just cry. Every now and then I feel the pain but not so much anymore. You could ask your doctor for some more information. They may have more info since I have had it done. I wish you luck and hope the pain isn't too bad.

I had it mine started after my tubal June 08 had complications from that and finally in Feb of this year..So went to the doctor after trying to just deal with but the pain was unbearable..So finally in April my obgyn figured out what was wrong and we decided to just do a hystererctomy in May. And after all the pain from the surgery stopped it has been well worth it.So maybe you should consult with your doctor about that to see if its a option?..I dont regret it.

Hi there, i was diagnosed with endometriosis 09/08. I had a laproscopy with 4 incisions which left almost invisible scarring. During the procedure they discovered my tubes were blocked and therefore i would never get pregnant naturally. After the laproscopy i continued to get the monthly agonising pain so i was scheduled to have my tubes removed. My partner and i went on a fertility diet and about 4 weeks before my surgery i found out i was pregnant! therefore not needing the surgery. My son was born on the 31st july and so far no more problems. All the best!

I had endometriosis and it was treated through laparascopy. It was not painfull at all. 4 months after that I got pregnant and now I have my daughter Katarina. Dont be scared, you will deal with it, it isn't really nothing that bad. Good luck!

I don't have endometriosis, but I do have pelvic inflammatory disease. I had a laparoscopy to remove scar tissue and my tubes with the hope of a greater chance of IVF working. Because of what they actually did when they went in, my recovery was painful, but quick. I had 3 incisions, instead of just one.
If you have the choice, I would go with the laparoscopy over surgery. A close friend of mine does have endometriosis and went the route of the surgery and was out of work for 6 weeks on very heavy drugs.
Good luck to you!

Thanks for all the responses.I was to see my doctor.About 2 years ago i had sharp pains in my lower right side and had an ultrasound done. They found 2 cysts. They recommended laparoscopy then but i said no.The pains gradually went away. Then during my 3 periods the pain has come back and is more intense then ever.It was almost as severe as labour pains, and i've had 2 kids!Back pain, heavy bleeding also.I'm not sure if nausea is a syptom but i had that too.I went to see my doctor and after endless questions from him, he's sending me to a gynocologist and they'll take over from there. My doctor thinks that it's endometriosis and told me they do a laparoscopy to confirm that..So, hence the question to all of you.
Needless to say i'm alittle worried, but i've had this doctor i'm going to see before and i know he's one of the best in here in Nova Scotia. He does this stuff all the time...but yeah, any help any one can give or suggestions, i appreciate.Other people's symptoms would be nice to know as well.ANYTHING at all....thanks so much :)

hi there, i was diagnosed with endometriosis in march of 08 and had a laparoscopy to remove the adhesions from my uterus, ovaries, etc. i was a stage 2-3 (moderate/severe). at the time i was trying to get pregnant for about 2 years. i had no trouble with the surgery, very little recovery time and pregnant within 6 weeks! i now have a almost 5 month old daughter born in April and couldn't be happier! my symptoms have not returned and my doctor says that i shouldn't have any more trouble getting pregnant. all the best!

i Have suffered from it for a few years and finaly had the laperoscopy to take care of it. it was very painful the first few days of recovery, the pain meds just made me sick so i couldnt take them alot of the time. This was 6 months ago and im doing great. No more pain, Recovery didnt take too long and i was back at work in 2 weeks. Very minimal scarring(below my pubic hair line) and no other signs of ever having surgery. Good luck to you if this is what your going through and i hope the surgery is just as successful. If you have any other questions or just need to chat let me know.

My sister has it and I also most likly have it (Symptoms, and other things have been ruled out)I have been to afraid to go threw with it.
From looking at my sisters experience there really is nothing to fix it.
So I live with it.
I hope someone else anwsers who knows more.
I could use the advice and would love to learn more from others. : )
