My partner and i have been together for a year and living together in our own place for about 4 months, however a month after moving in he lost his job. I have been paying all the rent, paying all the bills, doing all the groceries and supporting not only him, but his 3yr old son aswell..It hasnt bothered me up until now, i love them both dearly but i am at a crossroads. We have maybe $30 to last us a week and a half and are supposed to have his son this weekend however i cannot afford the petrol to go pick him up, nor do i have the money to get him nappies, or food or anything and i feel absolutely terrible but i dont know what im supposed to do. I really dont think asking if we can have a weekend off while we sort out finances and wait for my pay to come through is fair is it??? please help!!!

He was trying to find a job at first and then he kind of gave up out of frustration, so i found him one, which he went to however the pay was terrible and the money he did make didnt ever come to me to help pay for all our bills and apart from him paying his sons daycare, i still had to pay for his sons food and stuff while he was here.
Im just beginning to really stress out because its hard enough to support both my partner and i but now we've hit a point where i cant even afford that. His son is with us 3 weekends in a row, which doesnt bother me, but its beginning to only because i cannot support him at the moment, i just dont feel its fair for me to say that he cant stay because i cant afford it

Yes it's fair as you don't have the obligation to support his son, he does.

Has he even been trying to find a job? Surely he can do some handwork for neighbours or other around the area.
