My 2 almost 3 year old freaks out (like cries) when we leave the doors open (all doors). The first thing she does in the morning is run to the bathroom & shuts the toilet lid if it's up or closes the doors in the bathroom (1 to the toilet & tub & 1 to sink area). Say I'll go use the bathroom and she is in the living room & I finish & close only the door to the sink area & leave the lid open, along with the door open to tub & toilet & I come out & she's playing & she looks up & says "mommy close the toilet..." Like HOW does she know it's open? Sometimes I just test it & leave it open to see if she will know... & sure enough she does. I'll even tell her "I did close it..." & she'll go look & shut it along w the door that I left open which I hardly do... I usually close the bathroom doors & leave the toilet lid open.

She also freaks out about the closet. Her dad said that she hides herself in the closet & when he opened the door she was "talking to the wall..." I know we all have had imaginary friends at 1 point but I'm also concerned because I've never liked the closet so I wouldn't ever dare to hide in it & she's 2 almost 3. I want to talk to her Pediatrician but I want feedback to see what some say...

Wow, that's interesting! Did you ever try leaving the toilet lid closed then saying "Oh, mommy left the lid up! Will you close it for me?" I wish I had advice but the only thing I can say is to make an appointment with your pediatrician. Did you try asking her directly why she feels like this? Good luck!!!

There are so many different things it could be. It is always best to err on the side of caution though. But be careful in seeking answers. Will you be ready for some sort of diagnosis? I am not saying to avoid asking the doctor, but prepare yourself. Personally, i believe there are three reasons. First off she could just be a quirky little child. I have one of those. :) It could be some sort of OCD. I know that I have heard of instances where a child that age is diagnosed with it. Or it could be autism. How is she socially? Perhaps research those things? If nothing else, you can work yourself into a big tissy over it, take her to the doctor, and she be perfectly fine. Good Luck, and Prayers to you. :)

Very strange, I had to share with you, Sonni Marie- Last night my 2-almost 3-year-old son came into my room around 1am and wanted to cuddle (no problem!) but he couldn't get back to sleep. After awhile he started crying and insisted that I close my closet door because it was "looking like something spooky". I immediately thought of your post! Then he wanted me to close my bedroom door -which is something I hardly ever do but I did since he was so distraught. Soon after that, he peed on the potty (he never pees in the middle of the night) then fell asleep. Very strange! It made me wonder a few things about your little one. Just some things for consideration: is she potty-trained or in the process of? Has she had a change in her schedule or has there been a change in her loved ones schedules within the past 6 weeks? These are things that can bring up odd behavior or regression. Just some food for thought. I hope everything turns out well- and soon!

Haley Vera- I've heard that she may have OCD but as far as Autism- I haven't had that opinionated. I am prepared for whatever it concludes to. It's scary but at the same time I'm not sure what it is. So I don't want to freak myself out. Or start diagnosing my own child. I definitely will make an appt with her Pediatrician. She's very very smart. She's outgoing, she interacts with everyone and anything. She's loving & tough as well. She has her days where she's a "brat" but wht two yr old isn't? Thank you so much for your reply & prayer!

Kris- no, I appreciate your response as well,Thank you! At this point I really don't know what to think. I'm just scared for her bc she'll wake up screaming for me at times. It's very scary. I'll be in a dead sleep & all I'll hear is her cry & scream for me. Also, one night I was up around 10pm & she was asleep & she was sorta crying in her sleep & twitching a bit. I'm thinking okay she's having a nightmare. So I tried to shake her arm to wake her but she was limp like in a dead sleep. & she could hear me say her name & she would make that "hmmm" noise (like what?) but she wouldn't wake up & typically she does wake up when I shake her or hold her in my arms & say her name. So yes definitely I will be making an appt. better safe than sorry 😔 thank you so much for your prayer as well! God bless you all!!!
