I believe the flu shot is just as healthy as the other vaccines available. The medical community advises to vaccinate children under two and the reason is because they are much more vulnerable and flu-related mortality rates are higher in infants. The vaccines is perceived (by the experts) to be less of a risk to them than the flu itself.

Share your concerns with your doctor and see what he/she has to say.

My daughter will not be getting the Flu shot,
Where I live they have now mixed the H1N1 Vac right into our regular flu shots so its a big NO for us :)

I would NOT give a flu shot to a baby. Every single time I've gotten the flu shot I got terribly sick. I don't get them any more. And there are a bunch of different kinds of flu and they can't/don't protect against all of them.

Plus there are other harmful things in the shots.

I can't give you advice on what is right for you and your son, but my kids and I don't get the flu shot.

My son got his flu shot yesterday. Well, half of it because they do it on two doses. I know a lot of people have different opinions on this matter but when we were pregnant the H1N1 was crazy. I was terrified of getting it and losing my baby. I got the regular flu shot and the H1N1 shot. I was fine and so was my son so this year we both got our flu shots again. I don't want him to get sick. I guess I figure that since we were fine when I got it while pregnant that he will be fine now. Does your son go to daycare? He's more likely to get sick if he does so then I would recommend it even more. But if not then maybe it wouldn't be as important even though you could potentially bring something home yourself. I know this isn't great medical advice, just my opinion, but I hope ti helps a little bit. Oh, and my son has been fine since the shot. He was fussy just like with the regular shots but no worse. And I just thought of this too...wouldn't it be just the same 'as the other vaccines he's receiving? Just make sure the shot is preservative free if you do get it. Hope you can find something in all of this rambling to help you....Happy Thanksgiving!
