My 5 year old was recently diagnosed with ADHD, we got him assessed at children's hospital and by his pediatrician. I avoided to thought of using medication for along time but no matter what we do things just seem to get worse and he is in kindergarten and things at school aren't good. He is really struggling so me and his father decided to try medication and although its only day 3 I just don't feel like its helping or hindering him but also feel guilty for putting him on medication in the first place so Im coming here for help and advice from other mothers who may have gone through the same thing with their child.

Thank you! I know its not going to show a difference right away however that is what the doctor made it sound like, That we would know right away if it was helping or hindering him. I talk with the doctor in a couple days to talk about how it is going and then meet with her in a month so we will see. Thank you again!

Medication for this issue takes up to 2 to 4 weeks to show any changes in your child. Three days is not enough to make a difference. You either keep him on the meds or take him off and deal with the after math of it. If you do stay on the meds remember he is going to take time to adjust to the meds as I said. Once he is on it in a continued and consistent fashion he should be better. This day and age so many people from parents to teachers seem to think that a pill is the way to go with dealing with kids. What people perceive as ADHD or ADD, may not be more than the child's actual normal being.
