Hello, I am currently afraid and very frusterated to the point where I would really like to have some advice. My son was detected he had fluid in his kidney (ultrasound) when he was born.that was 4 months ago. the pedeatrician and the urologist want to insert a catheter to see if his kidneys are well and to see if the urine is going reverse instead of forward. I do not want to have it done on him. He has been normal since he was born no uti's infections of any sort.what shoiuld I do?

If he has extra fluid in his kidneys, something needs to be done. The best and quickest way to drain them is by use of a catheter. If you are concerned, it is within your rights as a parent to ask for a second opinion, but you've already got two physicians who agree. Problems with the kidneys can remain hidden for years, and strike suddenly. They did with my kid, who was at one point in complete renal failure due to fluid buildup in his kidneys that had gone undetected. He's completely healthy now, with full function in his kidneys, but he could have died. He, too, was perfectly normal, no infections, etc...
If I were in your shoes, I'd have the procedure done.
