My son keeps telling me that he doesn't like is new school. He is 12 years old and the other day when he left for school, the school office called me to let me know that he never showed up. He called me later to tell me that he didn't feel well and he was at his friends house. His friend is not in school either because his school wasn't working out for him and his parents are trying to find another school for him to go to.

Ok, how have you handled this so far? What investigating have you done into complaints from your son (or have there been any)?

I get a strong feeling here of "my buddy isn't at school, so I'll hang at his house". Nip it in the bud now. Deliver him to school, walk him inside if necessary. Explain to the administration that his absences, unless they are notified by you, in the form of a written notification, will not be excused by you.

Investigate what's going on. Find out from school teachers, counselors, coaches, etc, whether or not your child has a problem at school, or he's just trying to work the system.

He plainly sound afraid of the new place, he misses his old school, friends and what he knows,? Try talking to him, it takes time for Every person to get use to new places and people but if he gives it a chance everything would be okay?

Why doesn't he want to go to school? WHAT doesn't he like about it. If there is a bullying issue... that needs to be addressed. If he's just a pre-teen that doesn't want to GO....tell him you will drag his butt there yourself and sit in on every class with him... all day... in front of his friends. That will either get the truth out of him and you can address the real issues, he'll get his butt in school, or he'll get to have Mommy take him to school in front of all his friends.
