If he's only 2.5, then perhaps he's not ready for potty training just yet. My son was trained one month before he turned 3 on February 21st. I started introducing the potty when he was 18 months but he didn't show a lick of interest until about age 2.5 and even then it was sporadic interest. You can encourage him by putting him on the potty to try and have a pee/poop, but don't be too disappointed if it doesn't work out how you have hoped. Boys generally take longer to train than girls and age 3 seems to be the magic number. As for the toddler bed, I have friends that didn't move their kids to a toddler bed until well after age 3 so there's really no rush for that either unless it's a safety issue. With the toddler bed, you might have to spend a few nights sleeping on the floor beside him until he's comfortable and then just gradually work your way out. A big change like a toddler bed will take time, so try not to get too frustrated if in a month or two from now he's still not settled.
